Day Clothes
About Day CLothes…
“Caressed, did I, those diseased eyes; when beauty was all they could name me.”
Day Clothes, a play that integrates poetic narrative and movement, is about a young man’s blind pursuit of a dream and his community’s culpability in that pursuit. Deonte, a fantasizing romantic, continuously harms those he professes to love, propelling those around him to confront their known and unknown compliance with his actions. This self-governing black society, an Afro-futuristic interpretation of the Divine Nine, adheres to the tenets of unanimity, self-respect, and legacy building. As Deonte evaluates his dark truths, his community is forced to reassess their founding principles.
